In Pennsylvania, Security Guard licenses are acquired through the city clerk’s office. The process is in depth and involves petitioning a court for a license. For those wishing to pursue security, the best bet is to apply for entry level security jobs with licensed and ensured security companies in Philadelphia, or greater Pennsylvania. Unarmed guards in Pennsylvania need to be 18 and graduated high school. Hopefuls need to have a clean criminal background check, or they will not get very far in the process. The job as a security guard is an important part of the Pennsylvania law enforcement hierarchy which is in place to provide protection for property and people. Other states require up to 40 or even 80 hours of course training on security guard skills, weapons safety and use, laws etc. If your goal it to ensure licensure it may be wise to obtain as many security guard training courses and as much experience prior to going before the judge.
